The Ultimate Guide for Expecting Parents Planning a Babymoon in Asheville this season (2026)
Pregnancy is one of life’s most exciting seasons of anticipation, and before your little one arrives, there is something incredibly special about taking a little time away together. A babymoon is more than just a vacation—it’s a chance to slow down, reconnect, and celebrate your incredible journey into parenthood. If you’re Planning a Babymoon in Asheville, North Carolina this season, you’ve chosen one of the most beautiful destinations in the Southeast. Nestled in the heart of the Blue Ridge Mountains, Asheville offers breathtaking scenery, award-winning restaurants, luxurious spas, charming boutique hotels, and countless opportunities to relax before life changes in the most wonderful way!
As an Asheville native, local mom and Maternity Photographer who has spent nearly two decades photographing growing families throughout Western North Carolina, I’ve had the privilege of helping hundreds of couples celebrate this exciting chapter of their lives. Whether you’re visiting for a long weekend or spending an entire week exploring the mountains, here’s everything you need to know about planning the perfect Asheville babymoon.

Why Asheville is One of the Best Babymoon Destinations in the Southeast
Unlike many vacation destinations that revolve around nonstop activities, Asheville invites you to slow down.
Here, your days can be filled with leisurely breakfasts, scenic mountain drives, relaxing spa appointments, charming downtown strolls, incredible food, and unforgettable sunsets over the Blue Ridge Mountains.
It’s romantic without feeling rushed.
It’s luxurious without feeling pretentious.
And it’s naturally beautiful during every season of the year.

The Best Time to Visit Asheville for a Babymoon
One of the wonderful things about Asheville is that every season offers its own unique charm.
Spring (April-June)
Spring brings blooming dogwoods, cherry blossoms, azaleas, tulips and fresh mountain air. The Blue Ridge Parkway comes back to life, making it an ideal time for scenic drives and outdoor dining!
Summer (June-September)
Because of Asheville’s higher elevation, summers are noticeably cooler than much of the Southeast. It’s the perfect escape from the unbearable heat in lower elevations while still enjoying mountain adventures, wildflowers on mountaintops, mountain laurel and rhododendron blooms, waterfalls, rooftop restaurants, and vibrant downtown festivals!
Fall (October-November)
Autumn is Asheville’s most popular season—and for good reason. Brilliant fall foliage transforms the Blue Ridge Mountains into a masterpiece of gold, crimson, amber, and orange.
If you’re dreaming of maternity portraits surrounded by iconic mountain views, fall is truly magical!
Winter (December-March)
Cozy fireplaces, boutique hotels, holiday lights, snow-dusted mountain peaks, and fewer crowds make winter a peaceful and romantic season for expecting couples.

Where to Stay During Your Asheville Babymoon
Whether you’re looking for historic elegance or modern luxury, Asheville has accommodations for every style.
Consider staying:
- Downtown Asheville for walkability, restaurants, galleries, and shopping, my favorites are The Restoration, Kimpton or Foundry
- In the River Arts District for easy access to RAD galleries, shops and restaraunts as well as West Asheville and the BRPW! My favorite hotel in RAD is The Radical
- On Biltmore Estate at either the Village Hotel or the Inn on Biltmore for all access to the estate.
- Along the Blue Ridge Parkway for peaceful mountain views – Pisgah Inn is going to be unique experience with unparalleled peaceful mountain views with obviously super convenient access to the BRPW since it’s actually on the BRPW!
- I also just learned about this luxury retreat in the mountains in Waynesville called The Swag and OMG – I cannot wait to stay there! Seriously, look it up on IG!😍

Relaxing Things to Do While Pregnant in Asheville
A babymoon doesn’t have to be packed with activities.
Some of the most memorable moments happen when you simply enjoy each other’s company.
Here are a few favorites:
Drive the Blue Ridge Parkway
The Blue Ridge Parkway offers some of the most spectacular mountain scenery anywhere in America, with dozens of overlooks that require very little walking.
It’s an easy way to experience the beauty of Western North Carolina while taking things at your own pace.

Visit Biltmore Estate
Spend the day exploring America’s largest privately owned home, strolling through beautifully manicured gardens, have lunch at one of the estate’s restaurants, enjoy afternoon tea, or simply take in the mountain views surrounding the estate (hot pro tip: take a blanket, find a spot (I love the hill across the lawn from the mansion), walk all the way up near the top and enjoy the view, relax and have some snacks!)

Book a Prenatal Spa Day
Asheville has some really great spas and if you’re Planning a Babymoon in Asheville, you should definitely treat yourself to a prenatal massage, facial, or relaxing spa treatment before baby arrives!
Many Asheville spas offer pregnancy-safe treatments specifically designed for expecting mothers.
Some of my favorite spas around town are:
Blazing Lotus Healing House – This is one of Asheville’s highest-rated wellness destinations and an incredible option for expecting mothers. Their prenatal massage is performed using a specialized pregnancy bolster that allows many clients to comfortably lie face-down, something that’s difficult to find elsewhere. The setting feels intimate and relaxing rather than commercial, making it perfect for a peaceful babymoon experience.
The Spa at Omni Grove Park Inn – This is Asheville’s iconic luxury spa and one of the most famous destination spas in the Southeast. The subterranean pools, mountain views, fireplaces, and relaxation lounges make it an unforgettable splurge during a babymoon. The spa offers pregnancy-safe treatments, though it’s always wise to confirm availability and any gestational requirements when booking. It consistently ranks among Asheville’s top spa experiences.
Wake Foot Sanctuary – This is one of Asheville’s most unique wellness experiences and a favorite among both locals and visitors. Located in the historic Grove Arcade, this tranquil sanctuary invites guests to unwind with handcrafted herbal foot soaks served in hammered copper bowls, accompanied by soothing tea and optional head, neck, shoulder, hand, or foot massages. For expecting mothers looking for a gentle, restorative experience, Wake offers specially formulated soaks for pregnancy and encourages guests to consult their prenatal care provider before booking. It’s the perfect way to rest tired feet after exploring downtown Asheville and indulge in a little well-deserved pampering during your babymoon.

Explore Downtown Asheville
If you’re Planning a Babymoon in Asheville, building in some time to check out Downtown Asheville is a must! Browse local bookstores, art galleries, boutique shops, coffee houses, and artisan markets before enjoying dinner at one of Asheville’s nationally recognized restaurants.
A few of my favorite shops downtown are:
LOFT Asheville – Looking for a one-of-a-kind souvenir? Make a stop at The L.O.F.T. (Lost Objects, Found Treasures), one of Asheville’s most beloved independent gift shops. Tucked along Broadway, this colorful boutique is packed with quirky home décor, locally made goods, books, candles, art, Asheville-themed gifts, and unique finds you won’t see anywhere else—making it the perfect place to pick up a memorable keepsake from your trip.
Malaprops Bookstore – No visit to downtown Asheville is complete without an hour (or two) spent wandering the shelves of Malaprop’s Bookstore. A beloved Asheville institution since 1982, this independent bookstore is renowned for its thoughtfully curated collection of new releases, Appalachian literature, children’s books, and unique gifts. Grab a locally roasted coffee from the café, browse the knowledgeable staff recommendations, and, if you’re lucky, plan your visit around one of the bookstore’s many author readings or literary events. It’s the perfect cozy stop on a crisp mountain afternoon and a favorite among both locals and visitors alike.
Duncan & York – If you’re searching for the perfect Asheville souvenir or a thoughtful gift, Duncan & York is a downtown favorite. This beautifully curated boutique features an ever-changing collection of locally made goods, artisan candles, jewelry, home décor, specialty foods, children’s gifts, and Asheville-inspired keepsakes—all thoughtfully selected to celebrate the creativity and spirit of the Blue Ridge Mountains.
Tops Shoes – A downtown Asheville landmark for generations, Tops for Shoes is a destination for anyone who appreciates exceptional footwear and personalized service. Family-owned for more than 60 years, this beloved shop offers one of the Southeast’s largest selections of premium comfort, casual, and fashion shoes for men and women, with knowledgeable staff dedicated to helping you find the perfect fit. Whether you’re shopping for stylish walking shoes before exploring the city or investing in a timeless pair you’ll wear for years, Tops for Shoes is well worth a stop during your downtown adventure.
Bohemian Baby – If you’re visiting Asheville with little ones—or shopping for a thoughtful baby gift—Bohemian Baby is a must-visit. Nestled inside the historic Grove Arcade, this charming boutique specializes in beautifully curated, ethically sourced children’s clothing, toys, books, and gifts with a timeless bohemian aesthetic. It’s the perfect place to find a unique keepsake for the newest member of the family while supporting a locally owned Asheville business.

Watch Sunset from a Mountain Overlook
Few experiences are as peaceful as watching the sun disappear behind endless layers of Blue Ridge Mountains.
Bring a blanket, some takeout, and simply enjoy the moment together.
A few of my favorite Sunset Overlooks (if you’re up for a hike):
Max Patch (about 1hr drive west on i-40 + 30-45 minute (gradual) hike up)
Black Balsam (about 45-1hr drive along the BRPW + 30-45 minute hike up (some high stepping here))
A few of my favorite Sunset Overlooks (if you’re NOT up for a hike):
Beauty Spot in Erwin, TN (about 30-40 minute drive up i-26), super short walk from parking area!
Any overlook on the Blue Ridge Parkway but Cowee Mountain Overlook is EPIC! 😉
