Nothing can prepare you for how quickly your newborn will grow and change!! Those first days and weeks pass by in an endless haze of sleep deprivation, feeding, changing, laundry, nap, repeat. Trust me when I tell you, you'll want these images to remember just how incredibly love drunk you were on this tiny, perfect little human! I know that the thought of leaving the house in those first weeks for your baby's newborn portrait session can feel daunting...
Which is why every newborn session begins with fresh brewed coffee or mimosas, snacks and professional hair & makeup at my studio for mom while I photograph your sweet, sleepy baby! Once you're finished with hair and makeup, you can choose a dress from my client closet or you can wear something of your own & we'll get started photographing your new baby with their parents, siblings and family! Newborn Sessions typically last about 3hrs from start to finish.

- New Props purchased specifically for your little one's session according to your preferences for theme and color pallet!
- Access to our Client Closet full of feminine, flowy, flattering Baltic Born Dresses for post partum mamas!
- Your Photographer's time, talent and expertise to shoot (3-4hrs), edit (3-4hrs) and deliver an online proof gallery as well as time for final edits, design, ordering and delivery of your professional print products (2hrs).
At Asheville Portrait Company, we value family & try really hard to prioritize having a Healthy Work / Life Balance. We believe that it directly affects our attitude, energy, creativity and ultimately our success.
As such, we can only take on 5 Newborn Portrait Session Bookings each month. We encourage you to book you session as far in advance as possible to ensure availability for your baby!

How far in advance should we book our session?
All that's required to reserve your Newborn Session on my shoot calendar is a $400 Creative Fee & a Signed Portrait Session Contract. After that, I'll put your due date on my shoot calendar as a tentative place holder & we'll go ahead and schedule your Pre-Session Phone Consultation to chat about your session, to plan for it in terms of theme, color pallet, props needed, etc. You'll just let me know once baby arrives & we'll get you into the studio following week!

How does this work?
I typically schedule newborn sessions weekdays between
9am - 2pm. You'll have (up to) 4hrs with me in my studio!
Newborn Portrait Sessions are entirely baby led! Some of our time together is spent feeding, changing and soothing baby to sleep so that we can get those sweet, sleepy shots that everyone loves!
If baby is full, content and sleepy, you could be in and out in two hours!
(Please let me know ahead of time if baby is having tummy trouble or cluster feeding, we'll simply re-schedule for a few days later to make it easier on everyone!)

How long do Newborn Sessions last?
You’ll want to dress in a way that makes you feel comfortable and confident!
I have a client closet full of beautiful & flattering flowy, Baltic Born dresses for moms!
I am happy to help you to put together your wardrobe for the session OR you can borrow something from my client closet if you'd like!
I typically recommend that parents wear white, muted pastels, gray or black depending on the vibe of the portrait session (we'll discuss this in detail during your pre-session phone consultation) AND you'll get more inspiration from my Client Prep Guide!

What should we wear?
Nope! I have a giant catalog of Newborn props for use! I have shelves full of bowls, baskets, boxes, buckets and baby beds! I have wraps in every color imaginable, a whole rack of knit hats, sleepy caps, headbands, crowns and bows!
AND each of my Newborn Sessions is completely custom!
During your pre-session phone consultation, we'll chat about theme and color pallet and I will order anything that's needed to make your newborn photo dreams come true!

Where is the studio located?
Due to high demand and limited availability, Creative Fees are non-refundable for any reason.
In the event of illness, inclement weather or other unforeseen circumstances, we will simply re-schedule for the very next available date that works for both of us!
